Practical skills

My weather project showcases the practical skills in 4D, 3D and 2D, i will use weather to influence these pieces.

REFLECTIVE COMMENTS

To begin my project in 2D I created a Handmade sketch book. I made this from card, scrap paper, string and staples. I was extremely pleased with the outcome of this, as it showed a wide range of different materials used and many different methods were used to turn it into a book. If I could improve i would find a way to keep the book shut that doesn't involve me tying string through the staples I made.

In the group workshop we all put together a massive sheet using all kinds of materials and images, we then were told to draw the first  thing that came to our mind to do with clouds. I instantly thought of cloud people and began drawing. I enjoyed this first design because it shows lines and colour. If I could improve I would've used a pencil instead so i could get contrast and shadows.

REFLECTIVE COMMENTS

For my introduction to weather in 3D me and another student created a cloud with the form of a human, we created this statue by using wire as the foundation and shaping it into a figure then wrapping wool around the wire to create a cloud person. This links in to our project as weave based it on the shapes of clouds. If I could improve I would straighten up the back of the statue making it more finalized. To add to the 4D side in photographing this pice I made an A4 landscape design of clouds in the sky to go behind the sculpture.

For my next project in my 3D work that linked to whether I created the scene of the world serpent snake (Jormungad) vs Thor (god of thunder) and them battling. After creating this scene I created a stop motion for it. i linked this project to the theme weather as i used the famous lightning god Thor in a nattle with the world serpent, the battle took place in the sea in a great storm. I enjoyed making this project and using this method as it showed of my 3D skills, to improve i will next time use a more professional material like foam board.

BEFORE PHOTOSHOP

AFTER PHOTOSHOP

In my cloud cgi project I followed a step by step guide that showed me how to create cloud with cgi, I then after creating the clouds duplicated them and then added composition in my work by bringing them forward or sending them back so they seemed like they were far away from where the camera is located, I then made it so the camera flew through the clouds as you can see in the video. I I could change the video I would add more clouds to the video to make it more realistic. Overall I enjoyed creating cgi clouds and will continue to use this process in future projects.

For the cloud time-lapse we set up a camera on a large tripod and tilted it in the direction of the sky after a period of time we uploaded the video to premier pro and sped it up so it became a 30 second long time-lapse. I then added music in the background so it isn't just no sound. If I could remake it I would have made sure there were no movements in front of the camera.

In our Cloud photography project I took lots of different photographs using composition, shadows and scaling. After taking these photos I uploaded them to photoshop and began changing the colouring and textures of the photos, making things like the sky blue or using patterns to change the perception of cloud. If I would improve I would take more photos like the hand and the flower as it effectively displays composition.

STOP MOTION FOR 3D

I have introduced photoshop into my work by using the 3D models I created to create different scenes. The first stop motion I created a background of a sky and grass and using mini painted figures to create a story about Loki  vs Thor. This stop motion went well as it showed the two god and how they fought. If I could improve I would make the movements more clean of the characters and make the photos flow better.

The second photoshop is a 2D short of the goddess Freyja vs one f the frost giants, it follows Feyja throwing her spear into the giant and then suddenly blood gushing out. This went extremely well t the short flowed very well and it was extremely clean. If I could improve on this stop I would extend the length of the clip.

The Final stop motion I created is about the battle between Thor and the word serpant. The stop started with a small viking boat in a vast ocean with the world serpent luring over the sea then suddenly Thor comes from a bolt of lightning and bonks the servant on the head. I introduced sound into the short so t isn't just silent
